More about the….The Mirage F1V2

The Mirage F-1 is a defense and air superiority single-seater plane. This revival was made possible by technological advances which permit manufacture of ultra-thin but robust wings, enabling at supersonic speeds flight performance equivalent to that of delta wings. The integrity of the fuselage structure allows the aircraft to carry a maximum amount of fuel. The Mirage F-1 prototype made its maiden flight with René Bigand at the controls, 23rd December 1966, at Melun-Villaroche (the Seine-et-Marne region of France). Commissioned by the French Air Force in 1973, more than 700 Mirage F-1’s have been sold to some 11 countries. The Dassault Mirage F-1C was the standard French fighter before Mirage 2000 entered service in the air force in 1984.
The wings are high-mounted, swept-back, and tapered. Missiles are usually mounted at the wing tips. There is one turbojet engine in the body. There are semicircular air intakes alongside the body forward of the wing roots. There is a single exhaust. The fuselage is long, slender, pointed nose and a blunt tail. There are two small belly fins under the tail section and a bubble canopy. The tail is swept-back and tapered fin with a blunt tip. The flats are mid-mounted on the fuselage, swept-back, and tapered with blunt tips.

-Astac

ASTAC is an ELINT/ESM system designed for detection, identification and localisation of radars of all types. It is suitable for medium and high altitude stand-off reconnaissance missions, or at low altitude on the battlefield and in penetration, where it can collect data for avoidance or destruction of anti-air defenses. The ASTAC tactical signals analyserpod is a light supersonic pod that is easy to install under any combat aircraft. It is currently in operation on French Air Force’s Mirage F1CRs and the Japanese Air Force’s RF-4E aircraft.

-Desire

Electro-optical reconnaissance demonstrator

Pendular pod for digital video reconnaissance (Thomson-CSF), including 610-mm high-definition stabilised optics. The pod is linked with the ground station SARA and with the multisensors interpretation aid system (SAIM)

-Super cyclope

Thermographic sensor (infrared wavelength), whose information can be sent in real time or at a later time to a ground station.

-Pod RP35P

Includes 75, 150, 200 and 600-mm focal length photographic camera

-Omera 33

Camera taking shots vertically at intermediate altitude (150, 300 and 600-mm focal length)

-Omera 40

Panoramic camera taking 180° downwards shots

ARMAMENT:

Standard installed armament of two 30 mm DEFA 553 cannon, with 135 rds/gun, mounted in lower central fuselage. Maximum theoretical external combat load 6300 kg (13,890 lb), comprising 2100 kg (4630 lb) on centreline pylon; 1300 kg (2866 lb) on each inner wing pylon; 550 kg (1213 lb) on each outer wing pylon; 150 kg (331 lb) on each wingtip AAM rail (Matra 550 Magic or AIM-9 Sidewinder) and 100 kg (220 lb) of chaff/flare dispensers on each fuselage shoulder position. Practical max operational load is 4000 kg (8818 lb).
Externally mounted weapons for interception role include Matra Super 530 air-to-air missiles under inboard wing pylons. For ground attack, typical loads may include one Armat anti-radar missile, one AM 39 Exocet anti-ship missile, or up to 14 250 kg bombs, 30 anti-runway bombs or 144 Thomson-Brandt rockets.

POWER PLANT:

One SNECMA Atar 9K-50 turbojet, rated at 70.6 kN (15,873 lb st) with afterburning. Fuel in integral tanks in wings (combined capacity 375 litres; 99 US gallons; 82.5 Imp gallons), and three main tanks and one inverted-flight supply tank (combined capacity 3925 litres; 1037 US gallons; 863.5 Imp gallons) in fuselage. Total internal fuel capacity 4300 litres (1136 US gallons; 946 Imp gallons). Provision of two jettisonable auxiliary fuel tanks (each 1200 litres, 317 US gallons; 264 Imp gallons) to be carried on inboard wing pylons, plus a single tank of 2200 litres (581 US gallons; 484 Imp gallons) capacity on the underfuselage station. Non-retractable, but removable, optional flight refuelling probe on starboard side of nose.

COMMENT:

Once upon a time the Mirage F1V2 was created for FS2002, so I, Ferdy’s reviewer got it and, I put my eyes on this fabulous aircraft and I decided to make a review on it. This Mirage F1V2 has been on my mind since I started doing reviews for FSPLANET.COM. I have seen that this aircraft does not have a main panel, but it does have a spectacular virtual cabin including a full viewable panel with all gauges working on it. It also has two detailed air brakes that appear from lowest part of the aircraft, like the real model. While you are in the runway the wheels have movement as in the reality, and as a good fighter’s file the back and only turbine has fire coming out of it when you accelerate the aircraft. Another thing to say about the wheels is that the direccional wheel, that is the one on the front, does have movement when you turn any side, also a have spotted that the 3D pilots head moves the way the directional wheel is moving. After all a good plane with very good textures. I recommend you to download it from FSPLANET.COM by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.

My rating is 10/10.
