This image depicts a Consolidated TBY Sea Wolf, a World War II-era United States Navy torpedo bomber.

Development: Originally designed by Vought as the TBU Sea Wolf, the project was transferred to Consolidated due to Vought's commitments to the F4U Corsair program, leading to its redesignation as the TBY.

Role: It was intended to be a competitor to the Grumman TBF Avenger in the torpedo bomber role.

Production and Service: Only 180 TBYs were built, and they never saw combat due to substantial delays in production and cancellation after VJ Day.

Location: The production of the TBY required a new facility in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which caused further delays.
