The Douglas A-1 Skyraider is an American single seat attack aircraft in service from 1946 to the early 1980's. It was in service during the Korean and Vietnam wars. The Skyraider had an unusually long career, remaining in frontline service well into the jet age. It saw service with the United States Air Force, the United States Navy, the United States Marine Corps, the British Royal Navy, the French Air Force and the Republic of Vietnam Air Force. The Skyraider had its first flight on 18 March 1945 and was introduced into service in 1946. There a total of 3,180 models manufactured between 1945 to 1957.
This Douglas A-1H Skyraider was a United States Air Force model and was with 6th Special Operations Squadron (SOW), with the 633rd Special Operations Wing (SOW), and based at Da Nang Air Base, Da Nang, Vietnam. The wing saw special operations missions such as:

Close air support
Air cover for transports
Search and rescue support
Forward air control
Day/night interdiction missions
