This model replica is painstakingly hand carved and then hand painted out of solid kiln dried mahogany wood(from renewable sources) by our highly experienced and talented craftsmen at our Filipino owned factory near the original Clark Air Base in Pampanga and takes about 9-10 weeks to manufacture. Production in our factory is supervised by our own resident British Pilot who ensures that exact blueprints are used for these meticulously detailed scale models custom manufactured and precisely engineered to your exact specifications and that will be cherished by all.

The model will be exactly as you see in the above image of the real aircraft and not the example we show below of a similar model we have made before. In terms of detailing (doors, windows, lights, control surface markings, antennas etc.) and livery or markings will follow the real aircraft image so we would kindly ask you to study the images very carefully (if you require higher resolution images please ask) to make sure that the model as you see is the 100% the same version you require or expect. We request your understanding on this matter due to the fact that these handmade models are traveling in many cases halfway around the world and any misunderstandings or mistaken expectations must be addressed at this as point of time as we cannot be held responsible for the costs involved in returning and replacing the model. The model will be shipped with the stand you see in the images although you may request if you like to change to either 1, 6 or 7 as in the attached image examples (just message us if a change is required).

It is our aim to continue to be a "sustainable" manufacturer avoiding the use of man-made materials wherever possible such as plastics, resins or metal in an attempt to reduce our Carbon Footprint and to protect our environment for generations to come. Our models are "works of art" and not to be confused with mass made plastic kits or diecast (die cast) look-alikes. We are proud Filipino's exporting to all parts of the globe and creating employment opportunities in an impoverished part of our country.

100% handmade models naturally come at a higher price than off the shelf, plastic or diecast (die cast) models but it may interest you to know that an average regular size fixed wing or helicopter model takes on average a total of 26 dedicated Man Hours of work to produce. During this time the model transitions through over 40 different manufacturing stages and processes. The 26 hours are not consecutive and require in-between many days (and in some cases weeks) of drying and curing time as they pass from one department to another making the overall production time from an outsiders point of view appear rather lengthy. Given these facts the time period we quote for production alone is very standard for our type of industry and among our close competitors. If you are interested in what goes into making these models, there follows a summary process schedule and video. Fokker 50 in Air Nostrum Service

TheFokker 50was a Dutch-built turboprop regional airliner developed as the successor to the Fokker F27 Friendship. Known for its reliability, short-field performance, and fuel efficiency, it became a popular aircraft for regional carriers across Europe. In Spain,Air Nostrumoperated the Fokker 50 during its early years, using the aircraft to build its network of regional services before transitioning to newer fleets.

Aircraft Overview

The Fokker 50 was introduced in the late 1980s byFokker Aircraft B.V.as an improved and modernized version of the F27.

Key Features
  • Capacity:Typically 50–58 passengers, depending on configuration.

  • Engines:TwoPratt & Whitney Canada PW125B turboprops, each producing about 2,500 horsepower.

  • Speed:Cruising speed of around 530 km/h (330 mph).

  • Range:Up to 2,000 kilometers, ideal for short- and medium-haul regional routes.

  • Cabin:Pressurized, with improved noise insulation and comfort compared to older turboprops.

The Fokker 50 was designed to compete with new-generation regional turboprops of its time, such as the ATR 42 and Saab 340.

Air Nostrum and the Fokker 50

Air Nostrum, founded in 1994 and based in Valencia, Spain, was established to provide regional connectivity both within Spain and to nearby European destinations. The Fokker 50 was one of the first aircraft types in its fleet, allowing the airline to grow rapidly in the Iberian Peninsula.

Operations
  • The aircraft was deployed onshort-haul domestic routessuch as Valencia–Madrid, Valencia–Barcelona, and flights to the Balearic Islands.

  • It also operatedinternational regional servicesto southern France, Portugal, and other nearby markets.

  • The Fokker 50’s excellent short-field performance made it well-suited for airports with limited runway length.

Passenger Experience

Passengers aboard Air Nostrum’s Fokker 50 flights experienced:

  • A comfortable 2-2 seating configuration with no middle seats.

  • Quieter cabins than older turboprops, thanks to advanced noise insulation.

  • Reliable service on short regional hops, often linking secondary cities directly without the need for connections.

Importance to Air Nostrum

The Fokker 50 helpedestablish Air Nostrum as Spain’s leading regional airlinein its formative years.

  • Fleet Backbone:It was one of the primary aircraft types that allowed the airline to offer frequent services on routes too thin for larger jets.

  • Iberia Partnership:When Air Nostrum became an Iberia franchise carrier, the Fokker 50 played a role in feeding traffic into Iberia’s domestic and European hubs.

  • Operational Efficiency:The type’s economics made it competitive against rivals in the regional turboprop market, particularly on shorter routes.

Transition and Retirement

By the early 2000s, Air Nostrum began phasing out the Fokker 50 as it standardized its fleet aroundBombardier Dash 8 Q300/Q400 turbopropsandregional jetssuch as the Bombardier CRJ200 and CRJ900.

  • The newer Dash 8 Q400 offered better speed and passenger capacity.

  • Regional jets were increasingly preferred for longer domestic and European flights.

The last Fokker 50s were withdrawn from Air Nostrum service as part of this fleet modernization strategy.

Legacy

While the Fokker 50 no longer flies for Air Nostrum, its role in the airline’s early development was critical. It provided the flexibility, efficiency, and reliability needed for a young regional carrier to expand and gain the confidence of passengers and partners alike.

For many Spanish travelers in the 1990s, the Fokker 50 represented the face ofAir Nostrum’s regional air travel, bridging smaller cities with Spain’s larger hubs and European destinations.

Conclusion

TheFokker 50served as an essential stepping stone inAir Nostrum’s history, enabling the airline to grow into Spain’s premier regional carrier. Though later replaced by newer turboprops and regional jets, the aircraft’s contribution to Air Nostrum’s success remains significant. With its efficiency, comfort, and reliability, the Fokker 50 helped lay the foundation for the airline’s long-standing reputation in European regional aviation.
