It is our aim to continue to be a \"sustainable\" manufacturer avoiding the use of man-made materials wherever possible such as plastics, resins or metal in an attempt to reduce our Carbon Footprint and to protect our environment for generations to come. Our models are \"works of art\" and not to be confused with mass made plastic kits or diecast (die cast) look-alikes. We are proud Filipino\'s exporting to all parts of the globe and creating employment opportunities in an impoverished part of our country.
100% handmade models naturally come at a higher price than off the shelf, plastic or diecast (die cast) models but it may interest you to know that an average regular size fixed wing or helicopter model takes on average a total of 26 dedicated Man Hours of work to produce. During this time the model transitions through over 40 different manufacturing stages and processes. The 26 hours are not consecutive and require in-between many days (and in some cases weeks) of drying and curing time as they pass from one department to another making the overall production time from an outsiders point of view appear rather lengthy. Given these facts the time period we quote for production alone is very standard for our type of industry and among our close competitors. The Antonov An-26: Workhorse of the Russian Air Force
The Antonov An-26, a twin-engine turboprop military transport aircraft, has long served as a pivotal asset within the Russian Air Force and its predecessors. Developed by the Antonov Design Bureau in the late 1960s as a successor to the An-24, it was designed to meet the rigorous demands of military and civilian operations across the Soviet Union and beyond. With its robust construction, versatility, and adaptability, the An-26 has proven to be an enduring workhorse, supporting a wide range of missions from cargo transport to surveillance.
A Versatile Performer:
The An-26 is distinguished by its high-wing configuration, which facilitates stable flight characteristics and short takeoff and landing capabilities. This feature, coupled with its rugged undercarriage, allows the aircraft to operate from unprepared and semi-prepared airfields, making it invaluable for deploying troops and equipment to remote locations with limited infrastructure.
One of the An-26’s most notable features is its rear loading ramp, which can be opened in flight for airdrops, enabling the aircraft to deliver cargo and personnel without needing to land. This capability significantly enhances its utility in humanitarian aid operations and in combat zones, where rapid response and flexibility are critical.
Technical Specifications:
The An-26 is powered by two Ivchenko AI-24VT turboprop engines, each producing 2,820 horsepower, granting it a respectable cruise speed and range. It can carry up to 5,500 kilograms of cargo or 40 troops, with the cargo hold designed to accommodate a wide variety of loads, from standard pallets and vehicles to specialized equipment.
With a maximum takeoff weight of 24,000 kilograms, the aircraft has a range of approximately 2,500 kilometers at cruising speed, depending on its payload. Its operational ceiling is about 7,500 meters, allowing it to fly above most weather conditions and terrain.
Operational History:
Since its introduction into service, the An-26 has seen extensive use in various capacities beyond mere transport. Its variants include the An-26B with enhanced navigation equipment, the An-26RL, a reconnaissance version equipped with electronic intelligence (ELINT) gathering systems, and the An-30, a specialized aerial cartography version.
Throughout its service life, the An-26 has participated in numerous military conflicts, humanitarian missions, and disaster relief efforts, demonstrating its reliability and effectiveness under challenging conditions. It has been exported widely, serving in the air forces of over 30 countries, attesting to its versatility and enduring appeal.
Conclusion:
The Antonov An-26 remains a vital component of the Russian Air Force and numerous other military and civilian fleets around the world. Its durability, versatility, and adaptability have made it a valued asset in various operations, from combat missions to humanitarian aid. As it continues to serve even decades after its first flight, the An-26 stands as a testament to the enduring utility of well-designed military transport aircraft.
