FM21944 through 45 – with interior same as F4F4, the FM2 ‘Hot Cat’ was built by General Motors - 350 lbs lighter than F4F4, and carried HVARs. FM2s worked with TBF Avengers at Samar to aid US DDs in disrupting an overwhelming Japanese battleship TF. FM2s covered every landing from Marianas through Iwo Jima to Okinawa.
