FS2002 de Havilland Twin Otter Canadian Floats version

The de Havilland Twin Otter aircraft is a high wing, twin engine, turbo prop aircraft capable of carrying up to twenty passengers in the commuter role. The aircraft has a wing span of 65 ft (19.8 m), length of 51 ft 9 in (15.7 m) and a maximum take-off weight of 12,500 lbs. (5670 kg). The Twin Otter is one of the de Havilland family of “bush” aircraft noted for their rugged construction and Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) performance. The version operated by the British Antarctic Survey is the wheel/ski equipped aircraft which has the capability to land on snow and ice or hard runways. These rugged aircraft are the backbone of the BAS Antarctic operations. They carry the scientists out into their field locations, they resupply them or move them during the season, and then recover the party to Rothera or Halley stations at the completion of their projects. Modifications to the aircraft allow the fit of airborne surveying equipment, including dual magnetometer, ice depth radio echo sounder, gravimeter, ocean colour sensors, and large and small format cameras for mapping and bird and seal census. The aircraft also provide the BAS with an Antarctic search and rescue capability.

The NOAA Air Resources Laboratory (ARL) developed modifications to the Twin Otter in order to measure eddy fluxes and concentration gradients through the atmospheric mixed layer. Rates of exchange of several atmospheric properties throughout the lower atmosphere and between the atmosphere and the surface can now be investigated. In addition to the advanced pressure-port system that provides absolute velocity data, the unique nose cone al so accommodates infrared H2O/CO2 analyzers and net radiation sensors. When the Mobile Flux System is fully deployed, the fast response temperature, water vapor, and carbon dioxide sensors in conjunction with the global positioning system, provide routine data on vertical eddy fluxes of temperature, water, and carbon dioxide can be extracted. Other implementations includes air temperature, dew point, pressure, three dimensional winds, and radiation state-variable instruments. The platform can also acquire air chemistry data, such as NO, NOx, Noy, SO2, O3, CO, and reactive hydrocarbons, using a flow-through air inlet system with instruments situated in equipment racks. The acquisition system is computer-based with four display monitors mounted throughout the aircraft allowing in-flight interactions by scientific users.

Comment:

Hi. I come back again to give you ideas and new reviews about aircraft. This time I wrote about an aircraft called ” FS2002 de Havilland Twin Otter Canadian Floats version .” This plane has excellent details in the main cabin. Aswell, almost everything of the main panel’s stuff have excellent movement. In the main cabin you have good side views. If you change the view and you go to the virtual cabin and you look back, you will find excellent view from the inside of the plane were the passengers sit during the journy. Then if you change to the view in the outside you can see an excellent 3D pilot piloting the plane. After all an excellent plane with excellent textures.

My rating is 9/10.
