Air Transat’s TS 236 was a transatlantic flight from Toronto (Canada) bound for Lisbon (Portugal), that lost all engine power while flying over the Atlantic Ocean on August 24, 2001. The Airbus A330 had run out of fuel due to a leak caused by a series of errors. For 19 minutes, Captain Robert Piché and First Officer Dirk de Jager flew their plane without engine power for some 120 km (75 miles), to a successful emergency landing in the Azores saving all 306 people on board. It was and still is the longest glider flight of any passenger jet in history.
The models feature solid injection molded plastic construction with crisply printed graphics.
