The Railroads of the Confederacy - Black 1952 1st Ed. Hardcover Civil War:
$24.95

\"The Railroads of the Confederacy\" is Robert Black III\'s history of the participation of the railroads of the South in the Civil War. The conditions of rail infrastructure were important as it prevented free and easy transport of goods and troops necessary to the war effort. Efforts to improve this hindrance were slow and ineffective in many areas. He relates how the army persevered until the very end of the war. With several b/w photos and other illustrations plus 13 maps, including a large fold-out map of the Railroads of the Confederate States laid-in at the rear (see Photo #11) to augment the detailed text, the story of the conflict is told. This 360-page, 6\" x 9\", portrait-formatted hardcover book was published in 1952 by the University of North Carolina Press as an unstated first edition. The book is in very good condition with no damage - no dog-eared pages, no text markings and no jammed corners. The dust jacket is in good condition with no damage - no chips, tears or creases, but there is a little edgewear and is protected by a Brodart mylar cover. The photos are of this very book.
