McDonnell XF-85. is the feature in this bulletin with other information. Please see pictures of Contents. This jet fighter was built without landing wheels. It was to be lifted in the belly of U.S. bomber and dropped out at an high altitude and after it's mission it was to return to the bomber. When it returned the bomber dropped down an mechanism called a trapeze so the pilot could hooked back up. The first few returns ended up in failure and they had to land in the desert without any landing gear. On one attempt the trapeze was poked through the canopy which forced it to land. The pilot of the Parasite wasn't injured but again had to land in the desert without landing gear. This attack fighter wasn't very practical and was later scrapped.
