The Chaz Bowyer Collection:
‘Chaz’ Bowyer was a prolific aviation author of the 1970s and 80s with over40 books to his name. These books included 9 of Ian Allan’s ‘At War’ series.
Using his RAF contacts ‘Chaz’ built up a vast collection of images by borrowingalbums and photographs from former servicemen – having them professionallycopied – and then returning them to their owners. The photos offered here aretherefore between 40 and 50 years old. Many images are unusual personal ‘snaps’and not available from other sources such as the IWM.
When ‘Chaz’ retired from writing following a heart attack at the end of the1980s the seller acquired the majority of this collection.
Raymond ‘Chaz’ Bowyer passed away in 2008 at the age of 82.
