Isidore Auguste Maeie Louis Paulhan [1883 1963]was aprominent French aviation pioneer who won the 1910, Daily Mail aviation prize for a flight between London and Manchester. Paulhan began his aviation career in 1905, as a balloon pilot in the French military. Following his military service in 1909,he designed and built his own aircraft and taught himself to fly. Paulhan quickly established himself as a gifted pilot and set numerous distance, speed, duration and altitude records. In 1910, he became one of the first pilots to fly a seaplane and founded the Paulhan Aircraft Companywhich built and designed aircraft for the French military and he also served as a lieutenant with the FrenchAir Force during World War I. Listed for sale is a French picture postcard signed by Louis Paulhan. The postcard contains an outstanding early aviation image of Paulhan in his aeroplane andis signed \'\'L. Paulhan\'\' in black fountain pen. The postcard measures5.00 x 3.25 inches, it has trivial toning otherwise itis in finecondition. The autograph is part of a collection gathered by a young man named Peter Sutherland during the 1930\'s and will be accompanied with its original transmittal envelope. The autograph is authentic and is a desirable example of the noted aviation pioneer and will be a great addition to any aviation collection.
