This is a locomotive reverser key which I manually machined from 6061 aluminum billet. It is four different machined pieces assembled together. The end iscrenulated, has a lanyard hole, and can be unscrewed from the handle. The handle has a very fine knurl. The knurl is so fine that it is like aluminum velvet!
I am a high end machinist in Milwaukee, WI. I usually make motorcycle road race parts, but a friend convinced me to make a couple of these.
These keys take me 6 hours each to machine, so I\'m afraid I can not come down on the price. This will be the last one I make like this for a while. I will make one more, with brass inlays for a higher price. After that I probably wont make more until December at the soonest. Gotta get back to making motorcycle racing parts!This key is entirely functional, and can be used by an engineer in place of the plastic keys. It would also be a unique display item in a railroad collection.
