Exoto 1964/65 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe #6 "The Prototype" NIB Retired :

This is a 21 year old item from my personal collection that has been stored in my non-smoking home for those 21 years in anticipation of eventually building a display room. My plans have changed and I have instead purchased a small waterfront retirement home that will not allow for such a grand display.

This 1964 / 65 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe has been retired by Exoto. Item RLG18001

It is one of the original six Shelby Daytona Coupes Chassis CSX-2299

It contains the 1965 Viking Blue / White Stripe highly detailed replica in the original double box packaging
History from Exoto website:

This model is an authentic reproduction of chassis CSX 2287; the very first prototype Cobra Daytona Coupe. The one and only coupe that was built entirely at the Shelby American race shop in Venice, California. It enjoys an extensive race history; competing at Daytona, Sebring, Reims, Spa Francorchamps, Oulton Park TT, and Tour de France. This venerable coupe ended its racing career by setting 25 USAC/FIA world records at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah. It was driven by Dave MacDonald, Bob Holbert, Jo Schlesser, Phil Hill, Jochen Neerpasch, Innes Ireland, Andre Simon, Maurice Dupeyron, Bob Johnson, Tom Payne, Craig Breedlove, Bobby Tatroe, and Tom Greatorex. Chassis CSX 2287 won the GT race at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 1964 with Dave MacDonald and Bob Holbert at the wheel. The race at Sebring was the first time that a Cobra Daytona Coupe wins the GT III category at an FIA race!.

From the Diecast.org review of the series at the time of release:

It quickly gained prominence in the 1/18th scale market due predominantly to the exquisite detail found throughout the model. Each of the replicas features a finely detailed interior with seven superb dash gauges, soft-feel seats and fire extinguisher. But, tilt the front hinged hood for the real action! From the photoetched radiator (both front and shrouded top), wire mesh screens and jewelry-like chains tethering the hood, to the plumbed and wired engine, the detail is fantastic. The battery cables are in place, fuel lines are evident and even the headlights are wired. The transverse-leaf front suspension and air jack system are well depicted with the hood opened and the remarkable tire tread patterns show painstaking attention to accuracy. The rear hatches carry infinitesimal rivet detail and the wheels even display metal valve stems. Flipping the car upside-down rewards the looker with an accurate view of the rear suspension and another wire mesh screen for the driveline. The precise fit and meticulous finish are highlighted by the various historically accurate nuances built into each of the six individual pieces.

This is brand new, in original shipping box

I collected from the mid-1990's through about 2013.

I have many complete sets of items which were very hard to come by during that time.

Most of my focus was on Limited Editions or rare offerings. During those days, many individual stores received only one vehicle of a given set of six or twelve and you had to contact each store in hope of scoring one.

Most of them are new in package and have never been out of the shipping boxes.

I do not have a current list as my former spreadsheet was lost with a retired computer somewhere along the way.
