I\'ve seen a similar one used as a steam gauge on locomotives with different faces but this one was attached to the original boiler at the University of Chicago and was still working when it was taken out. Ot is serial #79 691, made in 1905 according to a registry I found online. It is a magnificent example of American Industrial technology. It is huge and heavy, weighing a little over 16lbs and measuring over 12\" in diameter. I assume the casing is solid copper, the dial is engraved text into what looks like polished, brushed stainless steel. It\'s in fantastic vintage condition with a great patina. There are a few small white blemishs on the face (under the glass) and some paint specks on the glass and back.
