The Boeing 777 is a wide-bodied airliner commonly referred to as the "Triple Seven". The 777 was designed to bridge the gap between Boeing's 767 and 747, and also to replace older Douglas DC-10's and Lockheed L-1011's. The program was launched on October 14th, 1990, with the first order from United Airlines. The 777 first entered commercial service with United Airlines on June 7th, 1995.
The Boeing 777-300 ER (extended range) has a higher maximum take-off weight, and with its increased fuel capacity has a maximum range of 7,370 miles. It can carry up to 396 passengers. The 777-300 variant is the bestselling of the 777 series with 810 produced.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands. The airline is headquartered in Amstelveen, near its hub at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The airline has 120 aircraft in service with 12 Boeing 777-300ER's.
