Hobby Master / Douglas DC-6B / Balair Airlines / 1:200 Scale:
$79.95

The Douglas DC-6B first flew on February 10th, 1951. The first scheduled passenger flight was on April 11th, 1951 with United Airlines. The DC-6 had the same wingspan as the DC-4, but similarities ended there. The DC-6 fuselage was longer, stronger and pressurized. The more powerful engines used a 3-bladed propeller capable of reversing pitch for braking. The DC-6B was the most successful of all the DC series of aircraft with the last of the 288 produced being delivered on November 17th, 1958.
Balair was a Swiss airline headquartered in Glattbrugg, operating out of Zurich Airport. Of all the aircraft they had, only one was a DC-6B.
This particular aircraft with registration number HB-IBS was first delivered to Balair on 11 January, 1969. It flew with Balair until 18 April, 1975 when it was used by the International Red Cross for two months, then flew for Balair again until September of 1982, when it was sold to another carrier.
This reproduction of the Balair DC-6B is a rare, highly detailed, Hobby Master quality model. It comes with undercarriage and a display stand. It is a great addition to any prop lover's collection or any aviation enthusiast. All sales are final. Shipping to the continental USA only.
NOTE: The pictures shown here are representative only. The model for sale is new and never taken out of the box. This is the only one available.
