FYI:The 23, 190 grt, 631-ft.motor shipGripsholmwas built by S.A. Ansaldo, Sestri Ponente, Italy,
for theSwedish AmericaLine and began her maiden voyage Gothenburg – New York on May 14, 1957.

She was sold to Karageorgis Lines in 1975, becoming theirNavarino.
She suffered a major fire in 1981, but returned to service asRegentSeaof Lelakis\'Regency Cruisesin 1984.
She had been out of service since the bankruptcy ofRegencyin 1995.
In early 2001 she was sold for scrap, and on her way to the scrap yard. She was traveling with the nameSea,the liner and the towing tugSimoon
were now off the coast of South Africaand had reportedly been in thisarea
for some days (smells fishy to me),when problems began, permission to enter Algoa Bay
was refused.Reasons for refusing entry into the calmer waterswere given
as a concern over the 30 degree list of the vessel, plus the presence of 60 tons of fuel/oil aboard.
TheSea, could not hold up any longer and sank on the 13th of July.
