What was our birth-right, given to us by the Founding Fathers, true freedom and liberty in a small-government republic of independent nation-states, for, by and of The People, was completely destroyed in the War Between the States (WBTS). "That" country suffered and died a prolonged, horrific death and finally succumbed on April 9th, 1865 at Appomattox Courthouse when Lee’s and Davis’s Army of Northern Virginia finally surrendered to the invading armies of Grant and Lincoln. Yes, it is a completely true statement that the reason there was a war at all is because northern armies invaded 13 sovereign southern states. The current politically correct, historically revised version of the WBTS is simply this: “The North was good. The South was bad. It was ALL about slavery. Period.” Nothing on earth could be farther from the truth. Read this book and you will understand why I say such things, as you will indeed get the true story of what happened from 1861-1865, what lead up to it, and what happened after it. Learn that the US and the state of South Carolina were under an agreed, non-aggression armistice when Lincoln tried to sneak war supplies to Ft. Sumter, thus forcing SC to fire the first shot. Learn that the Southern states provided 87% of the total revenue for the Federal government, and when asked, “Why not let the southern states go”, Lincoln responded by asking, “But where will we get our revenue?” Learn of the horrible and yet unnecessary suffering of both Black (yes Black) and White Southerners during and after the war. Learn what it really meant to be an anti-slavery abolitionist in the 19th century. Hint: There was no “moral” position to it! Nineteenth century “anti-slavery” meant “to rid the American continent of people of African descent”. There was almost NO moral concern whatsoever for the well-being and equality of African Americans in Northern states in the 19th century. This is why the Civil Rights movement actually took another hundred years to culminate. Learn that Abraham Lincoln was a self-avowed white supremacist who supported the removal of Africans from the American continent. Learn that Northern Republicans and Lincoln offered a constitutional amendment to the southern states that guaranteed “perpetual slavery” for African Americans and could not be amended in the future, if only they would come back to the Union. This was called the “Corwin Amendment” and was actively being ratified by northern states during the war, but southern states rejected it. Learn that the Confederate States constitution prohibited the importation of African slaves. Why, you ask, should I be concerned about these events, which happened 150+ years ago? Because they directly affect EVERY aspect of your life today in this country. Learn why “secession” is as American as apple pie, and why EVERY founding father agreed that it was completely legal and constitutional and was the ultimate and final check on abusive government (like the one we have today). The fact that Lincoln pursued a war to deny the legally of secession does not make it illegal or unconstitutional. “Might” does not make “right”. No American soldier ever fought harder and endured more suffering in the name of freedom, liberty and for the Constitution than did those who wore the Gray. Read this book and understand why that is a true statement. And then go vote accordingly! This book should be required reading in schools all across America. I will close with a quote made by Confederate General Wade Hampton shortly after the war ended…“If we were wrong in our contest for Southern Independence, then the Declaration of Independence was a great mistake, and the [late 1700’s] revolution to which it led was a crime…If [General George] Washington was a patriot, then [Robert E.] Lee cannot have been a rebel; if the enunciation of the grand truths in the Declaration of Independence made [Thomas] Jefferson immortal, then the observance of them could not have made [Jefferson] Davis a traitor.” Read full review
