The A-6 Intruder was a carrier-based twin Jet-engine all weather attack aircraftoperated by the US Navy and Marine Corps between 1963 and 1997. A-6 intruders firstsaw action during the Vietnam War, where the aircraft's long range and heavy payloadcoupled with its ability to fly in all-weather made it invaluable during the war.The Intruder's side by side seating enhanced its ability to fulfill its typical missionprofile of flying low to deliver its payload. The intruder used vastly upgraded navigationand attack systems and advanced radar to navigate through mountain valleys at low levels inorder to minimize the aircraft's risk from enemy radar-guided missiles. The VA-52 Knightriderswere proud operators of the Intruder from November 1967 to December 1994. They became themost decorated Intruder squadron for its sustained efforts during the Vietnam War.
