Northern Pacific Soo Line Duluth to Staples MN Cuyuna Ore Line Maps Set of 12:
$299.00

This is a very interesting and useful item. And the ONLY set I have available for sale.

It\'s a set of beautiful copies (not the old originals) of a set of Twelve (12) different Valuation Section (1 Inch = 400 Feet scale) Maps for most of the Northern Pacific Railway Duluth MN to Staples MN line with five (5) of these maps focused entirely on the jointly operated NP-SOO Cuyuna Iron Range where the iron ore was mined and shipped to Superior where it was loaded onto the NP and Soo Line iron ore docks.

Maps are dated 1915, 1916, 1923 or 1924. The main NP coverage here was known as the Second Sub-Division of the Lake Superior Division of the NP Railway through October 30, 1966. After that it became the Fourth Sub of the St. Paul Division and eventually became part of the Burlington Northern Railroad too. Full map descriptions are below. The copies are a black image on white bond paper, rolled, and have never been folded. Each sheet is 17 inches tall by many feet long. Some are well over 20-25 feet long. In fact if you connected all 12 nine maps, at 1 inch = 400 feet scale, it would be well over 200 feet long in total. Each map shows the NP tracks and the tracks of any railroads that intersected it or interchanged with it along the way. Shows the towns near the tracks, grade, curvature of tracks, many other details too. Everything looks great and highly legible. If you wanted to know what this entire line looked like then this is the set of maps you would want to have. It runs from Duluth at Milepost 0.0 all the way to Wheelock at Milepost 140 (NOTE: does NOT go to Staples, stops just short of Staples at Wheelock) and includes everything in between these two points plus the Cuyuna Iron Range area maps mentioned previously.

Each individual map is stored inside of its own box and labeled on the outside. The images below show just a very small portion of a few of these very long, rolled maps. I have the condition listed as used but these really are like-new condition no flaws worth mentioning. They are all in excellent, clean, rolled condition.

The first map starts in Duluth at MP 0.0 and runs to MP 19. This includes in wonderful detail Duluth’s Rice’s Point yard in its entirety, crosses St. Louis Bay showing the NP tracks in Superior, Belknap Street Yard, Central Avenue where it crosses the Great Northern, Pokegama where it crosses the Missabe tracks, Carnegie, Anton, and State Line Tower where it crosses the GN again.

The next map starts at MP 19 and runs to MP 31 though the map actually says it runs to MP 39. This includes Iverson and Sawyer. (The section between MP 31 and 39 is absent as intended by the railroad account Carlton is covered in another series of 9 maps, the NP Skally Line, also for sale separately in another of our sales. I do also have a separate Carlton Skally map available as well if you need that.)

The next map starts at MP 39 and runs to MP 59. This includes Corona, Cromwell, and Wright.

The next map starts at MP 59 and runs to MP 79. This includes Tamarack, Grayling, McGregor, Lansford, and Kimberly.

The next map starts at MP 79 and runs to MP 100. This includes Kimberly, Rossburg, Aitkin, and Cedar Lake.

The next map starts at MP 100 and runs to MP 122. This includes Deerwood, Klondyke, Loerch, the massive Brainerd Shops complex, and Brainerd.

The last map in this consecutive string of maps runs from MP 122 to MP 140. It includes Baxter, Sylvan, Pillager and Wheelock. This is as far west as the series goes. It does NOT go all the way to Staples but it is the Staples line that is covered.

The extra maps that cover the Cuyuna Iron Range area are as follows.

There is a NP Lake Superior Division Cuyuna Northern Lines map showing the lines from Deerwood to Trommald, Deerwood to Oreland, Loerch to Woodrow, and the Cedar Lake connection with the Soo Line. This map shows Deerwood, Ironton, the Feigh Mine, trackage near Lake Mahnomen, Trommald, Oreland, Loerch and Woodrow dated 1923 like all the previous maps.

There is a NP Cuyuna Northern Railway map showing the track profile of the line change near Trommald on the line to Duluth-Brainerd Mine. Original was dated 1924.

There is a NP Cuyuna and Northern Branch showing the trackage to serve the Merrimac Mine. Original was dated 1915.

Then there are two (2) Mpls, St. Paul & Sault Ste Marie Ry Co (Soo Line) maps showing their trackage. Both originals were dated 1916. One shows Soo Line tracks Cedar Lake Junction to Crosby. This includes Cedar Lake Junction, Ironhub, the Kennedy Mine, Cuyuna, Range Junction, and Crosby. The other Soo Line map shows the Iron Mountain Line. It includes Potts Spur, Adams Spur, Milford Mine, Rock Spur, Manganese, and the Algoma Mine.
