It\'s that time of year to thin out my personal collection of historic militaria and vintage aviation collectibles.
MA-2 High Altitude Partial Pressure Flight Helmet with RARE Original Face Plate. The Face Plates for these helmets are seldom seen, as most were destroyed by the government due to safety concerns. This helmet is not dated, but most, if not all were made between 1956-1959. Size not noted.
This helmet is super clean and has been in my collection for many years, displayed in a glass enclosed case. The original outer White shell is in excellent condition, clean and has never been repainted or touched up. There are small nicks & scratches here and there from storage. Some of the photo\'s may show fading, but there is none, that\'s just my lousy photographic lighting. The USAF decal has some nicks and slight fading. Both right and left cable stays are present. Inside edge has two names of prior pilots, \"Tunnell\" & \"Mack\".
The interior is complete with electronics, nice, un-torn chamois lining and correct M-55/AIC mic and cord with U93A/U plug. The inner rubber liner is present and showing some slight deterioration. The nylon hood is excellent with zipper and draw strings working as intended.
The Original face plate is in beautiful shape with only a few smudges/marks which could be polished out if desired. The original Green power cord for the Anti-Fog is in excellent shape, still very flexible with no dry rot or cracking. It\'s approx. 24\" long w/Viking connector. Feeding Port is present with properly working spring loaded door.
Fred the Head (Styrofoam Display Head) is not will be shipped fully insured via USPS registered mail with restricted delivery.
