RARE ALUMINUM Leslie Tyfon A-200 Some of the first air horns to appear on locomotives were Leslie Tyfon horns. Produced from the mid 1930\'s through the 1950\'s the A-200 was Leslie\'s deep-note horn for road locomotives. Many of the first diesel and electric locomotives ever made were equipped with the Leslie A-200. Including Pennsylvania Railroad\'s GG1 electrics, Alco RS1\'s, RS3\'s & PA\'s. EMD passenger and freight locomotives including E and F units and GP7\'s used the Leslie A-200 as well. Even some of the late steam locomotives had Leslie A 200\'s.
This particular A-200 is an extremely RARE ALL ALUMINUM casting and is in perfect shape! This original Leslie Tyfon A-200-156-RA locomotive air horn is a fine example of the first single-note \"honkers\"manufactured by the Leslie Co. in LYNDHURST N.J. It is factory tuned to D sharp below middle C.
This horn is from my personal collection and has always been kept indoors on display. It is spotless and absolutely perfect inside and out! It stands 13\" tall and measures 26” from back cap to the mouth of it\'s 10\" wide flared bell and has a 1/2\" female NPT air inlet on the bottom of it\'s base. It\'s diaphragm, back cap and threads are perfect. This horn is 100% ready to go and needs nothing but an air supply!
The A-200 uses a LOT of air. It sounds a deep powerful note that will scare the bejeezus out of anyone nearby and shake windows for an entire block. This horn is an absolute monster! That being said, use common sense with this and any other railroad horn. It is not a toy. Hearing loss could result if protection is not worn when in close proximity to this horn. Please operate it responsibly!
