The Grumman G-5 (used in service 1931 - 1934) was the first Navy Fighter Plane with retractable wheels.The US Navy Fighter BiPlane was extremely popular and after it was removed from the Navy\'s inventory, itwas sold all over the United States for use as a crop duster on acres of farmland.
If you had the opportunity to watch these graceful biplanes in your youth, as they sprayed crops across thesouth and the midwest of America, you will remember how admired they were for their ability to makequick turns and to fly low under the telephone and power lines. Loved by pilots for their quick moves, theywere loved by the public for their beauty and grace.
Working from exact blueprints, this replica was sculptured by master craftsmen from select, speciallytreated, Philippine mahogany wood.
It was made entirely by hand, from the hand crafting of the fuselage, wings and tail section - to the sandingof the aircraft\'s contours. This was followed by several coats of clear lacquer, making each replica a truework of art.
Showcase Model Co. models are made to recognized collector scales, 1/24, for enhanced value. The YellowPeril or the Grumman G-5 makes a great gift for any aviation enthusiast or history buff.
This model was built in the mid 80\'s and is more detailed and hand crafted than the current models beingoffered.
The model plane sits on a display mount but can be easily removed if an alternate display choice is made.
