British Steam FLYING SCOTSMAN Nameplate (miniature) SUPER QUALITY WOW!!--------------------An EXCEPTIONAL Repro Nameplate MADE IN ENGLAND and Made of SOLID BRASS!!14-1/2 inches tip-to-tip, 1-3/4 inches wide and 1/4 inch thick, this guy weighs 2 lbs! (miniature).
Brand New (in 1979) in it\'s box ever since, it was part of the US Victoria Station Restaurant Gift Shop on-hand stock when they closed in 1979, in storge ever since.
In summary you get:1) the NAMEPLATE, as described above;2) it\'s original sturdy BOX (VERY heavy cardboard STAPLED although rusty) with a pic label (I\'m leaving the original closure tape on the box, but it is deteriorating). Nominal size: 16 in x 5 in x1 in.;3) the original packing material: a) WAX PAPER (has small rips where lower pointed corners of the nameplate penetrated (believe me, those rips were there BEFORE I even opened it); and b) the CORRIGATED CARDBOARD protection (check in overall pics);4) a foldover BROCHURE (open is 12.5in. 4.5in.) with a brief history of the engine. Brochure cover is the same as that on the box. Everything made/printed in the U.K and is shown on the reverse of the brochure and nameplate.
Some MINOR issues, and I try to show them in the pics.
1) Outer Box - a) Top has ripped corner (can be glued to re-establish integrity). b) Bottom has small penetration. c) Staples ARE very RUSTY but are intact and far from failing.
2) Wrappings - 2 issues with the cardboard flexi-wrap. Has markings and a manufacturing flaw. Flaw is seen as a line across the width, but is where this paper was continued from one roll to another during creation. WAXED PAPER - the small tears as mentioned.
3) Nameplate - There is an enameling flaw just prior to the \"F\" and a slight (gotta call it a scratch) mark on the bottom edge of the 2nd \"S\". I\'d also say the \"M\" wasn\'t polished as good as it could have been. On the top edge, here too are polishing slip-ups: over the \"LY\" and again over the 2nd \"S\".
I think I\'m over-emphasizing these issues, but regardless of these flaws, OVERALL It\'s GORGEOUS! Sold brass, stove-enamelled with epoxy resin paint, and the polished surface retained with clear lacquer.
