Backwoods Railroad of Yesteryear Vol 1 Mower Lumber Cass Scenic Railroad WV RR:
$34.95

It’s hard to imagine at this point in the 21st Century that more than 65 years ago, the United States was crisscrossed by thousands of miles of regional railroads, many of which still hosted steam freight operations. In the Backwoods Railroading of Yesteryear collection, we will take a step back in time to a bygone era, with many of the featured railroad operations having long since faded into history, while only a cherished few survive today.

This DVD includes the following content:

Mower Lumber Co. featuring Shay No. 5 – September 1958
Mower Lumber Co. Shay No. 5 is on borrowed time as her log-hauling career will soon come to an unexpected end. On this day, we ride from Cass all the way to the farthest reaches of the Cabin Fork line, a lengthy 18-mile one way trip from the mill at Cass! Along the way we will observe some familiar scenic railroad era locations, as well as many long-forgotten camps and skidder sets on property that is now a part of the Monongahela National Forest. (Runtime: approx. 17 minutes, 50 seconds)Governor’s Acceptance Press Trip – April 1961
The Mower Lumber Co. mill has shuttered, and we witness one of the most important days in Cass history: the day WV Governor Wally Barron rode the line, officially pronouncing Cass the newest part of the West Virginia State Park System! This footage follows Shay Nos. 1 and 4 from Cass to a location just short of Bald Knob.(Runtime: approx. 13 minutes)Bonus Features
