National Old Trails Road guide sign - Route 66 midpoint. Up for sale today is this National Old Trails Road red, white and blue guide sign. Made to the exact standards as used around 1916-1919 by the Auto Club of Southern California. This guide sign is posted these days in Adrian, TX - technically not on the National Old Trails Road (which joins US-66 only from Santa Fe, NM westward to Los Angeles) but the association between Route 66 and the NOTR is such a strong one that the sign assembly in front of the Midpoint Cafe is a well-recognized US-66 landmark. (The other sign posted in Adrian, Texas is the 18" diamond-shaped National Old Trails Road Ocean to Ocean Highway marker, which is available in my other sales.) An original of this style of guide sign, complete with the logo of the Automobile Club of Southern California, would cost many thousands of dollars if it ever came to the market. This is a faithfully rescaled remake - the original is 24 x 18 inches, and this has been scaled to 20 x 15. The more compact form allows for more wieldy display. The sign weighs about 7 pounds, 10 ounces. If you are looking for the full size 24 x 18 inch sign, please see my other sales! This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style? I can of course make these signs with any city name of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and route shield signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A. Figure about 9 pounds for shipping, packed with care and mailed from zip code 61833. Thank you for your purchase!
