P-40B Tomahawk "The Fighter Collection"
This is a repaint only of the the Curtiss Hawk 81 - SP1 by Bruce Thorson.
This P-40B, 41-13297, was based at Oahu, Hawaii & survived the Pearl
Harbor attack on December 7, 1941, though was later lost on a routine
patrol in January of 1942. The Curtis Wright Historical Association/Project
Tomahawk recovered the aircraft along with the remains of 39-285 and
39-287 in 1989, with the focus on restoring 41-13287 to airworthy
condition. By 2002 the aircraft was sent to Fighter Rebuilders in Chino,
CA to finish the restoration. Now beautifully finished and flown in its
wartime markings again, the aircraft has been obtained by The Fighter
Collection, Duxford, and is scheduled to appear in the 2007 Flying
Legends Air Show. By John Terrell
